2024 is shaping up to be the year of the Roses! Floral patterns are looking to be big this upcoming Spring/Summer, roses in particular, as well as articles of clothing adorned with ruffles and resembling, well, roses! Short shorts seem to be on the rise (get it? heh heh) again, and trousers will be high waisted and flared, both replacing 2023’s paperboy styled bottoms.
Additional trends to watch for include: bows, preppy looks, metallics & golds, and fashion resembling the late 90’s.
The good news for us over 35 ladies is that everything cropped seems to be taking a hike (finally!) and this year’s fashion trends are super age appropriate universally. With that said, I am never here to judge or to tell you what to wear (you do you, boo!), but us women tend to dress a lot differently in our 30’s and 40’s than we did in our 20’s.

The delicate and intricate beauty of rose patterns adds a touch of elegance and femininity to various garments, ranging from dresses and blouses to accessories like scarves and handbags. Bow fashion has emerged as a delightful and versatile trend that injects a playful and feminine touch into various clothing items and accessories. Bows, whether dainty or oversized, have the power to transform the simplest garments into statements of sophistication and charm.
Prep style, short for “preppy” style, is a classic and timeless fashion aesthetic that originated in the Ivy League campuses of the United States. Rooted in a sophisticated and collegiate approach to dressing, prep style embraces clean lines, tailored silhouettes, and a well-coordinated color palette.
So, we’re kinda kidding here, kinda not. The 90s style is a nostalgic and eclectic fashion era that continues to influence contemporary trends with its unique blend of grunge, minimalism, and vibrant colours and Will Smith exudes all of dat! The 90s also witnessed a surge in sporty streetwear, and accessories like chokers, bucket hats, and scrunchies became staple items, contributing to the era’s distinctive style. White lace is also hot, hot, HOT this year, like my girl Hilary Banks 🙂
Ruffles in fashion represent a whimsical and romantic trend that adds a touch of femininity and playfulness to clothing. Whether adorning blouses, dresses, skirts, or sleeves, ruffles bring dynamic texture and movement to an outfit.
