In recent years we saw a rise in fashion-“core”. I guess putting a “core” at the end of something made it a whole thing. Cottagecore evolved in 2010 and included a cozy, rustic or woodsy aesthetic and was very popular for wedding and event planning. Gothcore came along in 2021 and evoked all things scary and spooky, and Barbiecore was bangin’ and super trendy for 2023 following the release of The Barbie Movie. Then there’s Fairycore, Clowncore, Lovecore, Applecore… ok maybe not that last one but really it’s just a matter of time.

So what is 2024’s current core? It’s Balletcore! And it looks just like it sounds. You take feminine, elegant and soft vibes, add some airy, flowy materials, and then ya throw a big ol bow on top of it all.
